Pick up the pace with our 10km Cheetah Chase

 

The Cheetah Chase is a good all-rounder running event. If you feel a bit too comfortable running 5km and are looking for your next challenge, then step it up and try our 10km event!

If you have run in 10km events in the past and are looking to set a new PB, then this track is for you too!

The course is measured to World Athletics Standards and certified as such.

The 2025 event will be held on Sunday 7th September.

The course starts and finishes at Ollie Robbins oval (Just Behind Coles).

Runners will run their course around the beautiful Macquarie River, returning to the race precinct to finish.

Prize money

Prize money is available for both male and female placegetters

  • First - $500

  • Second - $300

  • Third - $100

All event placings (except the Wallaby Wheel) are determined through gun start.

The Cheetah Chase course record prizes are currently $600 as both male and female records were broken in 2018.

Marshalling Time

8.15 am ready for an 8.30 am start- Please make sure you are at the start line ready to go as our fastest half marathon runners won’t be far away from finishing. Allow plenty of time to get to the race precinct and find a park.

Cut off to complete race is 2 hours.

Toilets and stations

There will be 10 portaloos at the marshaling area, plus the following on the cheetah chase course

  • 4.5km (water)

  • 6.5km (toilet)

  • 7.5km (water & toilets)

  • finish line (toilets, water, sports drink, fruit).

Course

Course Description

Start at the start line at Ollie Robbins Oval.

  1. Head north towards the Serisier Bridge which is a low level bridge.

  2. At the end of the bridge veer left under the rail bridge and head along the dirt path closest to the river.

  3. Continue along the path until you hit a concrete path and go across a carpark and under the LH Ford vehicle bridge.  

  4. After you go under the LH Ford Bridge you will do a 90 degree turn to the right where you will run up a short path onto the LH Ford Bridge Pedestrian Pathway (don’t worry, we will have signs and marshals here to guide you)

  5. You will run along the LH Ford Bridge Pedestiran Path until you get to the other side where you will do a 90 degree turn to the right which will take you up Macquarie Street (more signs and Marshals here to guide you)

  6. You will continue along Macquarie Street keeping left on the bitumen bike path until you reach a turnaround point which will be Marshalled.  There are 2 cross streets ie. Bligh Street and Tamworth Street, and 2 side streets ie. Regand Park Boulevard and Huckel Street you will need to cross which will be Traffic Controlled by qualified Traffic Controller’s and/or sign posted, please follow the Traffic Control instruction to cross.

  7. Once you reach the turn around point in Macquarie Street, continue back keeping to the left on the concrete footpath where possible as there will be runners coming towards you on your right.

  8. Immediately past the Water Treatment Works, runners will turn left through the entrance to the Regand Park Trail (past South Dubbo Weir).  Volunteers will be at this point to direct runners.

  9. Follow the dirt path for approximately 2.5kms keeping the river to your left.

  10. Runners will then cross over the sealed Tamworth St Carpark onto the Tracker Riley trail and will continue on this track in a northern direction, keeping the river to their left.
